This is from AllRecipes: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/slow-cooker-beef-stew-i/detail.aspx but a couple minor changes.
Ingredients
- 1-2 pounds beef stew meat, cubed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 beef or vegetable bouillon cubes
- 4 cups water
Directions
- Place meat in slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; sprinkle over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture. Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, onion, bouillon cubes, water, potatoes, carrots, and celery.
- Cover, and cook on Low setting for about 6-8 hours.
I am curious to try this... I assume that you pre-cook the stew meat , and then dice it? rather than add it raw?

ReplyDeleteI don't.
ReplyDeleteI didn't precook it either. Just coated it in the crockpot.
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted, you could brown the meat lightly before coating it in the crockpot - that might seal in juices better. I made this with actual stew meat and then with leftover roast. It was good both times but certainly better with stew meat. :D
